Owais Kayani: The Iraqi ambassador has met Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Religious Affairs Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain.

Ambassador of Iraq Hamid Abbas Lafta visited the Ministry of Interior Islamabad where he met the Minister of Interior Mohsin Naqvi and the Minister of Overseas Pakistanis and Religious Affairs Chaudhry Salik Hussain. Actions were discussed.

On this occasion, issues related to allowing free entry visa for pilgrims and increasing the quota of Pakistani pilgrims were also discussed. The interior minister assured the Iraqi ambassador of taking action against travel agents who illegally charge excessive fees to visitors. Mohsin Naqvi said that every year millions of Pakistanis go to Iraq for pilgrimage, pilgrims face many difficulties during the months of Muharram and Safar, we are trying to provide all possible facilities to the pilgrims.

He said that the pilgrims will get a lot of convenience if the Iraqi government gives permission for a fee-free entry visa. Passports should not be taken from the Pakistani pilgrims upon entering Iraq because it will make it difficult for them to return. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also requested to double the quota of Pakistani visitors this year.

The Iraqi Ambassador assured the Interior Minister of full cooperation in these matters and providing the best facilities for the pilgrims. .

Mohsin Naqvi said that action will be taken against these travel agents in a week. In the meeting, it was agreed to quickly finalize the visa waiver agreement on diplomatic and official passports, it was also agreed to sign the MoU between the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and the Ministry of Labor of Iraq soon.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Salik Hussain said that the activation of this MoU will make it easier for Pakistani citizens to obtain work permits for Iraq, the MoU will increase legal immigration and reduce entry and residence through illegal means. will

The Interior Minister assured the Iraqi Ambassador of all possible cooperation to solve the problem of illegal Pakistanis residing in Iraq. On this occasion, the Iraqi Ambassador congratulated Mohsin Naqvi on behalf of the Interior Minister of Iraq on assuming the post of the Interior Ministry and also invited him to visit Iraq.

Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Ali Agha and a delegation from the Iraqi Embassy also participated in the meeting.
