More than 180 local and international companies specialized in energy affairs are participating in the exhibition, which will last from February 12-14, 2024, according to a statement received by Agency.

In a speech at the opening ceremony, Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fadhil welcomed the companies participating in the ninth edition of the exhibition, and appreciated the efforts of those in charge of it, stressing the Iraqi government’s efforts to build sustainable and reliable energy systems that take into account appropriate environmental standards.

The Minister presented the Ministry’s plans and projects within the government program to raise the rates of electricity production by adding new production units, and raising the efficiency of gas-fired power plants by switching from the simple cycle to the combined cycle, as well as improving the efficiency of gas-fired power plants by adding cooling systems, rehabilitation works and long-term maintenance, in addition to introducing renewable energy into the energy mix produced.

He said, “The Ministry of Electricity succeeded in achieving the highest production of electrical energy in its history during last summer, which reached (26,050) megawatts, and our technical teams are making great efforts to increase production during the coming summer if the required fuel supply is stabilized.”

The Minister expressed his optimism about achieving the Ministry’s plans with the support and patronage of the Prime Minister, the assistance of the rest of the ministries, and cooperation with the national and foreign private sector.
