Iraqi Tennis Federation signs a contract with a Portuguese coach for a year

/ The Iraqi Tennis Federation announced on Tuesday that it had contracted with a Portuguese coach to lead the Iraqi national team for this game, in addition to general supervision of the age group teams.

The head of the Iraqi Tennis Federation, Saif Al-Aqili, told Agency that “the federation has completed its contract with the Portuguese coach (Luis Asuza) for a full year,” indicating that “the contract was signed today at the headquarters of the Olympic Committee in the presence of the committee’s vice president, Samir Al-Moussawi.”

He pointed out that “the Olympic Committee, upon the instructions of its Chairman, Aqil Muftan, has undertaken to bear the cost of the contract of the Portuguese coach, who will take over the task as of today, Tuesday.”

The head of the Iraqi Tennis Federation also pointed out that “the head of the Olympic Committee was keen to support the Federation by attracting a high-level foreign coach in implementation of the Olympic Committee’s future plan aimed at supporting its upcoming project, the Olympic Champion Project.”

He explained that “the coach’s mission includes training the first national team and the rest of the age groups (boys – girls), as well as selecting the coaches working in the federation in cooperation with the Coaches Committee in the Iraqi Tennis Federation.

It is noteworthy that Iraq recently hosted the Asian Under-14 Championship for boys and girls on the Baghdad tennis courts.
