The Iraqi Tennis Federation recently hosted tests for players and coaches of the national tennis teams in Erbil. This comes as the federation announced a major change in the formation of the national teams.
The head of the Iraqi Tennis Federation, Saif Al-Aqili, stated that the Portuguese Luis De Souza, coach of the Iraqi national tennis team, is in Erbil to conduct tests for players of all ages and genders. The aim is to select the most talented athletes to represent the national teams in upcoming competitions.
The tests also assess the technical abilities of coaches from Erbil and Dohuk in the Kurdistan Region, with the aim of identifying the most efficient coaches to join the national team setup.
Al-Aqili emphasized that this change in the national teams’ formation is the result of careful planning and the federation’s efforts to attract high-level coaches. He also acknowledged the strong support of the Iraqi Olympic Committee, which has played a key role in elevating the level of Iraqi tennis.
