/ The Turkish Statistical Authority announced on Saturday that Iraqis ranked fourth among the countries that bought the most Turkish real estate during the month of January.

The authority said in a report seen by Shafak News Agency that home sales decreased by 50.5% in January compared to the same month of 2022, reaching 2,000 and 61 homes, with Istanbul coming in first place with 747 homes, followed by Antalya with 710 homes, and then Mersin with 211 homes.

The authority also indicated that “Russians topped the rest of the countries in purchasing the most real estate in Turkey during January, with 555 homes, while Iranians came in second place, buying 208 homes, Ukraine came in third place with 127 homes, and then Iraq came in fourth place with 99 homes.”

The Turkish Statistical Authority announced, at the beginning of 2024, that Iraqis ranked fifth among the countries that purchased the most Turkish real estate during the month of December.

Iraqis have been at the top of the list of countries buying homes in Turkey since 2015, but their ranking dropped to second place after Iran at the beginning of 2021, before falling to third place since April 2022 after Russia’s dominance of Turkish real estate.
