/ The Iraqi national team ended its participation in the Asian Mini-Football Championship (Hexa-Football) by winning second place after losing its final match against the Thai team by five goals to two.

The media escort of the Iraqi delegation, Rafid Al-Badri, said in a phone call to Shafak News Agency that the final match took place at the “Makudi” stadium in the Thai capital “Bangkok” in the presence of the President of the International Federation of the game, Dr. Muhammad Hisham Al-Dosari.

He added that the match witnessed clear refereeing injustice in favor of the Thai team, and the coaching staff’s objections to the incidents that occurred were of no use, one of which caused a serious injury to our player Karar Ali Falhi, who was carried out of the match on a stretcher.

He pointed out that the Thai team scored the first goal in the 6th minute and strengthened its lead with the second goal in the 14th minute as a result of purely defensive errors. In the 19th minute, the Thai team added the third goal, before Hassan Karim Naim reduced the difference by scoring our team’s first goal in the 20th minute, so the first half ended with the Thai team leading by three goals to one.

Al-Badri continued, saying, “At the beginning of the second half, the Thai team added the fourth goal in the 22nd minute, and two minutes later, it strengthened its lead with the fifth goal in the 24th minute. Before the end of the match, our national team player, Sajjad Thamer, reduced the difference by scoring the second goal in the 37th minute, so the match ended with the Thai team leading by five goals to two.”

He pointed out that the match to determine third and fourth place witnessed the Bahraini team’s victory over the Uzbek team on penalty kicks with a score of 4-3 after the match ended in a positive draw with a score of 4-4.
