IRCAM celebrates World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development

Organized by the Center for Anthropological and Sociological Studies (CEAS) of IRCAM, this meeting aims to promote the culture of diversity and aims to highlight the role of culture in the development of society.

Speaking on this occasion, the Rector of IRCAM, Ahmed Boukouss, indicated that this meeting aims to share knowledge on Amazigh cultural heritage, particularly in its intangible dimension, noting the digitization and publication in the form of databases of several studies by the Institute.

Also, this celebration aims to promote the efforts of regional and national actors in the field of heritage, he continued, recalling that the process of meeting, transcription of all the expressions of Amazigh culture, as well as their safeguarding, protection and dissemination is of great importance for IRCAM, as indicated in the third article of the dahir establishing it.

For his part, the director of CEAS, Wanaim Mbark, stressed that the Center’s mission is to highlight and protect the intangible cultural heritage of Morocco, to highlight the role of the actors in this area and their working methods, to create coordination mechanisms for the promotion and protection of cultural heritage, as well as for the support and accompaniment of their efforts aimed at its promotion and enhancement.

The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development celebrates not only the richness of the world’s cultures, but also the essential role of intercultural dialogue for peace and sustainable development.
