IRCCS San Raffaele opens the doors of the new technical gym
New bionic and biorobotic digital technologies, but also innovative care designs capable of using technologies from prevention to home care. New, and the only one of its kind in Italy, the technical gym at the IRCCS San Raffaele in Rome extends for approximately one thousand square meters.
Robots, viewers and augmented reality, but also virtual assistants and exoskeletons for innovation that allow you to create personal patterns and predictably measure responses, improving the result of every method.
Robotics and advanced technology are useful for people with problems and deficits in arm and hand movements, walking problems and balance disorders.
It is addressed especially to patients with neurological pathologies (stroke consequences, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord diseases, polyneuropathies…), but also to patients with neurological processes that compromise walking, movement of the upper limbs or balance.
The therapy is characterized by the high flexibility of the application: the recommendations can be easily incorporated into the daily life situations, making the treatment stimulating and varied. Each robot can also be customized and adapted to the needs of each patient.
Details of the equipment of the technical gym of the IRCCS San Raffaele:
G-EO Program: Robot for walking rehabilitation, allows you to practice walking and climbing and descending stairs
C-Mill VR+: C-Mill VR+ is an advanced slim device that can offer enhanced visual and auditory feedback and create a virtual environment experience by projecting images both on the slim device and onto a large immersive monitor. Through integrated equipment and sensors it allows the central measurement of the patient’s body pressure and therefore the evaluation of walking and balance disorders. In addition, rehabilitation activities allow you to train the position of the foot and balance, show obstacles to teach the patient how to avoid them, stability training with equipment that performs scenarios with increased difficulty .
It is: A robotic seat and platform system for evaluation and rehabilitation of the trunk, lower limbs and posture
OAK: Balance adjustment and trunk control system through sensor supports and automatic games. It allows the evaluation of performance indicators and the risk of falling.
Virtual Reality Renewal Program: An interactive system for motor and cognitive rehabilitation in a semi-immersive virtual environment, with wearable inertial sensors and impact plates.
Motor: Robotic rehabilitation and assessment of the shoulder and arm in practice
Glory: GLOREHA Sinfonia Plus is a platform for neuromotor rehabilitation of the hand and arm, based on an exoskeletal soft-robotic system that recognizes and dynamically activates or supports the movement of individual fingers based on the patient’s motor skills. The patient performs the exercise through a set of three-dimensional exercises that produce a commitment to enhance adherence to therapy and improve motor learning through the effects of stimuli on cortical plasticity. Rehabilitation techniques can also use the movement of the healthy hand to generate in real time, through the robotic glove, a similar “mirror” movement on the murosatic leg.
Armeo Power: Robotic exoskeleton for rehabilitation of arm, shoulder and hand movements. Allows robot maintenance to be monitored by video games (serious games)
Alex RS: A related robotic exoskeleton for upper limb rehabilitation. It allows robotic therapy to be monitored through video games (critical games), and allows mirror reproduction of movements performed by a healthy hand on a hemiplegic leg.
Indego Care: An exoskeleton motor for the lower limbs that allows therapists to perform specific tasks and intensive training for their patients. Smart players that adapt to the knee and hip joints, in symbiosis with technologically advanced sensors, enable control procedures, allowing people with disabilities or paralysis in the extremities down to maintain a straight position and walk again.
