It was the final before the hour and it was therefore Ireland who took a good option to win the 2023 Six Nations tournament. France lost this match 32-19. Ringrose’s try in the 72nd sealed the victory for the Greens. Johnny Sexton, a time announced injured, was present at kick-off but had to leave in the 49th minute. France came out of a narrow success against Italy at the opening of the tournament.
The first half kept all its promises. The Blues opened the scoring with a penalty from Ramos in the fifth minute. But the Irish only took a few minutes to respond with a try. During the first half hour, the points did not stop raining. Ramos penalty (15th), Penaud try for the French (18th) to which two Irish tries (21st, 27th) respond, the last following the yellow card of blue pillar Atonio. After a penalty on each side, the locals lead 22-16 to the lemons.
The second half begins at a slower pace. No point is scored before the Irish conversion in the 60th minute which is answered by a drop from Ramos. After several changes on each side, the end of the match is suffocating, each team seeming close to the breaking point.
