Ireland recommends discontinuation of the AstraZeneca vaccine

by time news

Time.news – The Irish Vaccine Advisory Commission has recommended the temporary suspension of the administration of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine following cases of thrombi reported in some patients who had received the serum. This was reported by the Dublin Ministry of Health.

The Commission has released the recommendation following new information from the Norwegian drug agency, according to which patients hospitalized for suspected adverse reactions to the vaccine are experiencing bleeding, blood clots and a drop in the number of platelets. Thrombi reported in about thirty patients had already prompted 7 nations, including Norway, to suspend serum inoculation.

Nearly 120,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered in Ireland, mostly to healthcare workers.
