Irish women’s soccer team apologizes for pro-IRA chant

The Irish Football Federation (FAI) has apologized this Wednesday after the broadcast of a video showing the players of the national team singing a song that contained words of support for the IRA.

“We apologize from the bottom of our hearts,” said the FAI and Ireland’s national team coach, Vera Peacockin a common statement.

The video shows members of the national team celebrating their 1-0 victory against Scotland in the changing rooms at Glasgow’s Hampden Park on Tuesday, chanting the words “Ooh ah, up the +RA+“assimilated to support for the former paramilitary group.
