Starting at Praça do Império and finishing near the Naval Museum, the 11th edition of the Discovery Half Marathon recorded the largest number of participants ever.The event, which has the five-star seal of the European Athletics Association, registered 4,491 classification classes, a number that far exceeded the 3,339 in 2023 and the 2,304 in 2022.
The ten kilometer race also registered a new record with 2,885 placed, compared to 1,978 placed last year and 1,405 in 2022.
In the Half Marathon, the Irish won Josh Carr in 1h08m34s, with João Ferreira (CCD Tranquilidade) at 18 seconds and Pedro Alves (Run Tejo-Prevent Sprain) at 22.
In the women’s race, Catarina Cidade Carmo (Clube Pedro Pessoa), third in 2023, won in 1h20m11s, and Sara Neto (CF Os belenenses), fourth in 2023, 18 seconds behind and Rita Coelho (Navy ), in second place. in 2023, at 1m51s. ana catarina Costa was in 2h58m02s last time.
In the 10 km race, they beat Hugo Rocha (CCD Tranquilidade) in 31m12s and Marina Domingues (Individual) in 37m17s.
