In the weekly KBS 2TV weekend drama ‘Iron Family’ (written by Seo Sook-hyang / directed by Seong Jun-hae and Seo Yong-su), Kim Hye-eun naively portrays an immature rich wife, maximizing the character’s loveliness, while also gaining vitality with her lively acting in each scene she appears. It has perfectly established itself as a ‘funny spoon’.

In the beginning of the drama, Kim Hye-eun mainly made viewers laugh by watching her husband Ji Seung-don (played by Shin Hyun-jun) and her cute complaints during her struggle to find the 10 billion won in lost money. Unable to hide her true feelings at a word of her husband’s words, she laughed heartily with her facial expression that changed every moment, and acted in unpredictable ways that are not easily depicted in a rich wife, such as waving her hand or taking a stance of punishment, causing both laughter and sadness at the same time.

The scene with Do-han’s son, Seo Kang-ju (played by Kim Jeong-hyun), is 100% batting and making people laugh. While looking for the source of the serial number AA 50,000 won note, he is dragged out by Kang-ju and jumps up and smells the money, saying, “It’s my money,” or taking sides in every case in the story of Lee Da-rim (Keum Sae-rok), who burst into the hotel with a suitcase in tow. As if he was roaring at his son who was interfering, “Shoot! Mr.!” The shouting scene brought a lot of laughter. Kim Hye-eun’s realistic acting conveyed the character’s frustration while also capturing laughter through comical expressions.

Kim Hye-eun’s comical acting shined even brighter when portraying Baek Ji-yeon’s ‘idiot’. Kim Hye-eun skillfully made viewers laugh with her witty acting, adding her own interpretation, even in a brief scene. Kim Hye-eun, who added a mixed Korean-English line, “Hi, room 1001, breakfast please, uh-huh,” while speaking English to the fullest in a simple scene of ordering room service, also portrayed Baek Ji-yeon’s subtle desire to show off in a pleasant way.

Even in real estate scenes where only the back was shown, his presence stood out. Kim Hye-eun filled the audio by arguing with a real estate agent, saying, “You can’t drive to the department store. It has to be next to your house!”

In this way, Kim Hye-eun’s skillful acting played a big role in lightening the atmosphere of the play, which had become heavy with the tangled family history, and solidifying the identity of the weekend drama.

‘Iron Family’ airs every Saturday and Sunday at 8 PM.
