KBS 2TV’s new Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Iron Family’ (written by Seo Sook-hyang/directed by Sung Jun-hae, Seo Yong-soo) released photos from the script reading scene on the 6th.
‘The Iron Family’ is a romantic black comedy about the family of the honest laundry shop owner, Darim, who irons money instead of clothes.
The drama has already been gaining attention even before its broadcast with its splendid lineup, including the main characters Kim Jung-hyun and Geum Sae-rok, as well as Park Ji-young, Shin Hyun-joon, and Kim Hye-eun, who boast deep acting skills, and acting masters Kim Young-ok and Park In-hwan. It is also gaining attention as a work that combines the work of writer Seo Sook-hyang, a classic in romantic comedies, and director Sung Joon-hae, who is better at drawing warm family stories than anyone else.
At the script reading, the entire cast and production crew, including writer Seo Sook-hyang, director Sung Joon-hae, actors Kim Jung-hyun, Geum Sae-rok, Park Ji-young, Shin Hyun-joon, Kim Hye-eun, Choi Tae-joon, Yang Hye-ji, Kim Young-ok, and Park In-hwan, who will lead the drama, were present and showed their passion for the work.
First, Kim Jung-hyun perfectly delivered Seo Kang-joo’s lines that alternated between comical and serious, filling the set with laughter. Meanwhile, Geum Sae-rok naturally immersed herself into the role of Da-rim Lee, who suffers from an incurable disease, and deeply described her situation. The two main characters, Kim Jung-hyun and Geum Sae-rok, already showed off their ‘Kang-rim chemistry’, making us smile just by looking at them.
Park Ji-young plays K-mom Go Bong-hee, who sacrifices herself for her entire family. Shin Hyun-joon, who plays the role of Ji Seung Group’s chairman Ji Seung-don, not only shows off his charismatic force, but also shows off sweet chemistry with Kim Hye-eun, who plays his wife Baek Ji-yeon. Kim Hye-eun heated up the atmosphere on set with her lovely and greedy side, which was not seen in her previous works.
In addition, Choi Tae-joon, who played the role of Cha Tae-woong, an honest laundry worker, caught the eye with his dependable appearance that seemed like a more real older brother than Da-rim’s real older brother. Yang Hye-ji, who played the role of Da-rim’s older sister Lee Cha-rim, showed off her passion for her job as a designer and boasted perfect synchronization with her character. Great actors Kim Young-ok and Park In-hwan added comical elements to the cheerful daily lives of a couple with an older woman and a younger man, with their acting skills that need no introduction.
Here, the script reading scene with all the cast members including Kim Sun-kyung (as Yoon Mi-ok), Wang Ji-hye (as Lee Mi-yeon), Jo Bok-rae (as Nam Gi-dong), Kim Hyun-joon (as Lee Moo-rim), and Ha Seo-yoon (as Song Soo-ji) was portrayed even more richly. The perfect harmony of the lead and supporting actors is expected to provide the greatest sense of immersion into the play.
Regarding this, the production team of ‘Iron Family’ said, “It was a pleasant and warm script reading scene from the first meeting. The actors showed perfect chemistry, so much so that it was hard to believe it was their first time working together.” They continued, “The story between a family that takes place in one neighborhood will bring both emotion and joy to the viewers, so please look forward to it and show a lot of interest.”
