Irregularities worth crores of rupees revealed in the installation of transmission lines

(Ajaz Jamali) An irregularity of one billion rupees has been revealed in the installation of 132 kilowatt transmission line in Sindh.

The Sindh Assembly Public Accounts Committee was told that in 2015, the contract for the installation of the transmission line was given to a company that was not qualified. Irregularities came to light, in the Public Accounts Committee meeting chaired by Chairman Nisar Khoroki, irregularities of one billion rupees were revealed.
The record of calculations of the Department of Energy was presented before the committee.
The Auditor General’s report stated that, for laying 132 KV transmission line in 2015, the department gave a contract of one billion rupees to a company which was not eligible, the said company was registered in 2009, Chairman PAC Nisar Ahmad Khoro. Members Sadia Javed and Makhdoom Fakhr-ul-Zaman expressed their concern about the matter. Before the Public Accounts Committee, irregularities were also pointed out in the construction of RO plants in Thar, 134 km road and drainage of waste water.
Secretary Energy told the meeting that the records of these projects have been handed over to the Public Health Department on the order of the Supreme Court. is
