Mettupalayam: A complaint has been filed against the contractor who is not paying proper salary to the contract cleaning workers. In Mettupalayam municipality, private contract workers are engaged in cleaning work. They were paid Rs 300 per day. Through the Right to Information Act, the salary to be paid to them was revealed to be Rs 606 per day. The private cleaning workers went on strike from 1st to 5th of this month to demand proper salary.
Municipal Chairman Mehriba Parveen, Deputy Chairman Arulwadivu and Commissioner Vinod held talks in the presence. In the end, it was decided to pay Rs 350 by adding Rs 50. The sanitation workers demanded that the monthly salary should be paid by the fifth day. But the salary was not paid on the specified date. In this situation, on behalf of the private cleaning workers, the Liberation Tigers Party Constituency Secretary Tolgudimainthan, Mettupalayam DSP, has filed a complaint with Balaji. Karupusamy from Vadavalli, Coimbatore has taken a tender to carry out cleaning works in Mettupalayam. For the last six years, it appears that there has been irregularity in the salaries of the employees by not paying the salaries on time. Therefore, it was mentioned in the complaint that action should be taken against the concerned person.
