Mr. Sadiki, guest of the MAP Forum organized under the theme: “Green Generation, a strategy for food security in Morocco”, specified that these investments aim in particular to improve the efficiency of water use for irrigation and to strengthen energy efficiency for better preservation of the resilience of the agricultural sector.

In this regard, he said that the process of enhancing the water resources mobilized by the dams is carried out through the expansion of irrigation over an area of 72,500 hectares, as well as the preservation of groundwater, noting that the areas equipped with drip irrigation increased from 160,000 hectares in 2007 to 750,000 hectares in 2022.

He added that the objective is to reach one million areas irrigated by drip irrigation by 2030.

Regarding the desalination of sea water, Mr. Sadiki recalled that a desalination project aimed at irrigating the Chtouka plain has just been completed on an area of 15,000 hectares, with a capacity of 400 cubic meters per day, and at a cost of 4.4 billion dirhams.

In the same vein, Mr. Sadiki highlighted the importance of the use of unconventional waters, particularly through the desalination of sea water, as a main means of mitigating the risks of climate change and preserving groundwater.

This meeting was an opportunity to discuss the measures planned within the framework of the Generation Green strategy, which consolidates the achievements of the Green Morocco Plan, particularly in terms of growth and sustainability of the agricultural sector.

Having become a space for debate on current political, economic, cultural and social issues, the MAP Forum brings together representatives of public authorities and personalities from various backgrounds, as well as representatives of the media.
