The Met Gala is one of the most extravagant and glamorous fashion events of the year. It’s not just about seeing and being seen. The Super Bowl of Fashion, held annually on the first Monday of May, is also a major charity event. Since 1948, the fundraiser ball has been held to benefit the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The fundraising gala brought in 17.4 million US dollars in 2022 alone.
The invitations are very popular, Hinz and Kunz can neither afford the event co-organized by Vogue, nor would they ever have a chance of getting on the guest list. But now rumors are circulating that Wintour doesn’t want the Kardashian clan to attend the Met Gala this year. The usually well-informed celebrity outlet Page Six writes that the Vogue boss is cracking down on the gala’s planned guest list – and Kardashians shouldn’t be there this time.

Most recently, the “Super Bowl of fashion” was also frequently criticized by insiders: it was now overrun by influencers. It is quite possible that the strict Vogue boss wants to put a stop to such developments and make the event more exclusive and of higher quality again. And that the Kardashians are too trashy for her in this project. Wintour is said to have never been particularly fond of Kim Kardashian and her sisters.
There is still no official statement from the organizer as to whether what is probably the most famous celebrity clan in the world is really not allowed to come to the Met Gala on May 1st, which this time has the motto “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”.
