Is electricity expensive? A revolution in households

by time news

The Supergas company (which updates on changing its name to “Electra Power”), announces an electricity revolution for the private consumer, as part of the reform of the electricity market. The company will begin today (1.1.23) to sell and supply electricity to private customers on a large scale for the first time at a discounted price. In this context, a customer service hotline was established for private consumers who wish to switch from the electricity company to the company, and consume electricity at a cheaper rate. In recent months, the company has already started supplying electricity to dozens of private consumers as part of a successful pilot that it conducted.

As part of the national electricity reform, which among other things opened up the electricity supply segment to competition, it was determined that private consumers would be able to choose a licensed private electricity supplier and switch between the various suppliers, thereby reducing electricity costs, similar to the reform that was implemented in the past in the cellular market.

As part of its change from a company that supplies gas to a company that provides energy solutions to its customers, the “Electra Power” company, from the Elco Group, will offer customers, among other things, an integrated and customized energy service basket of electricity and gas, according to the customer’s choice, according to the characteristics of home consumption. This will enable a significant reduction in the total energy cost for consumers. In addition, changing the name and operating the company under the “Electra” brand, which is a leading consumer and retail brand in Israel, will allow customers in the future to enjoy belonging to the group, which has a touch in many areas of consumer activity and enjoys a long-standing reputation, reliability and a high standard of service, which will also strengthen the sense of security of its customers and the variety of services they can receive from the group.

The routes offered by “Electra Power” to private customers:
POWER route (discount throughout the day): first year – 5%, second year – 6%, third year – 7%.
High-tech route (discount between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. the next day): first year – 8%, second year – 9%, third year – 10%.
Double route (combined route for customers who consume gas and electricity from the company): In addition to one of the proposed electricity routes, a discount of NIS 120 per year will be granted on the gas bill.

The discounts are given out of the uniform domestic rate, before VAT (currently 53.42 EGP/kWh), and will only come into effect after the customer’s contract is transferred. Electra Power Company (formerly Supergas), was established in 1953 and its control was acquired in 2019 by Elco Group. The company has about 400,000 private customers and about 5,000 business and institutional customers. The company is engaged in the field of marketing and distribution of domestic gas (LPG), marketing and distribution of injected and compressed natural gas for industry and transportation, initiation, construction, and operation of small power plants based on natural gas (cogeneration). The company leads the field of electricity supply to private customers and opens a center National customers for private consumers who wish to switch from the electric company to Electra Power.

Chen Melamed, CEO of Electra Power (formerly Supergas): “We are proud to lead the consumer electricity revolution and inaugurate a dedicated customer center, which will allow those who wish to consume electricity from us and enjoy a fair price alongside high-level customer service, to do so right now. We call on customers whose energy is expensive for them, and not just for their pockets, to join the revolution we are leading at a time when electricity rates are rising again today. The connection to the Electra Group will yield added value for customers, and will establish the position of Electra Power as a leading company in the energy market. We are sure that the electric company will make the transition easier for consumers and that it is also prepared and involved in the issue.”
