CHENNAI: Opposing NEET on the one hand and conducting an entrance exam for government model school admissions on the other? BAMAK leader Anbumani Ramadoss has raised the question and insisted that the Tamil Nadu government should withdraw the notification.

He said on his Twitter page today: “Member Secretary of Model Schools Sudhan has announced that the entrance exam will be held the day after tomorrow on March 4 for the admission of 10th class students in 15 government model schools to be started in Tamil Nadu. This is in no way acceptable; Reprehensible.

The government of Tamil Nadu and parties including BAMAK are opposing the NEET examination for admission to medical courses because the rural poor students will be affected. What kind of social justice is it to conduct entrance exam for class 10 against NEET?

The setting up of model schools with modern classrooms, laboratories, world-class infrastructure and on-boarding facilities is to be welcomed. But they should be for the betterment of rural poor students and not to ignore them.

When there is no entrance exam for Anna University engineering course, conducting entrance exam for class 10 will set a wrong precedent. This selection is also based on the same principle of extension. We don’t need such an unjust policy. Anbumani Ramadoss said that the model school entrance exam should be cancelled.
