Michael Wendler wanted to start with a new album. The results after two weeks are sobering. Is a revealing announcement just right?
How are things going for Michael Wendler’s new album? The pop singer has been celebrating supposed successes since the release of “Höllisch gut” on March 22nd and has been beating the drum vigorously for weeks. The 51-year-old then sounds mainly in capital letters: “Fans are firmly with Wendler” or “Top entry into the sales charts”.
But Michael Wendler can no longer be found in the official German album charts, not even in the top 100 places. He gave a short guest appearance there of just one week. The self-proclaimed “King of Pop Hits” initially landed at number 42, but now he has disappeared completely.
Things are also going downhill in his genre
A little more than two weeks after publication, this is not exactly an exciting result, even in the – more or less official – hit charts the rankings continue to decline. While Wendler initially celebrated second place, despite his new album he is now only in sixth place – and the trend is falling.
The albums from the competition before him, on the other hand, are already months old. He probably doesn’t like the fact that things are going downhill so quickly for Michael Wendler just two weeks after the album was released.
The publicly available figures for the streaming service Spotify are anything but overwhelming. His album has been listed there since March 22nd, but one of the songs only has a meager 9,000 views. Only the single “Der DJ hat Dich anlache” reached a six-figure value with 216,000 plays.
For comparison: German artist Alligatoah released his album “OFF” on the same day. All of his twelve songs have at least six-figure numbers, half of them have millions of hits, and one song called “So raus” even has more than ten million clicks.
Five years after his last album “Zero Hour” from the pre-pandemic period in June 2019, the question arises as to how much interest there is still in Michael Wendler. At that time it still reached number 23 – but only stayed in the album charts for a week. The times when Wendler was able to stay in the charts for several weeks go back decades.
“Laura finally dared”
Nevertheless, Michael Wendler celebrates the pre-sale of around 2,000 tickets for a concert in Oberhausen in 2025 as a “record” – and that with an arena capacity of 13,000 seats and the fact that this is the only appearance that remains for him now the dates in Switzerland and Austria have been canceled for this year. Perhaps it’s just right that the singer still has his wife Laura Müller, who is 28 years his junior – and now, two weeks after the album’s release, he’s pulling her out of the hat like a kind of bargaining chip.
On Monday evening, Wendler advertised on his Telegram channel: “Laura has finally dared and is going full throttle in bed with two hot guys.” You can also see his half-naked wife lying in bed between two young, undressed men. Above her is a camera that is apparently filming the trio. On Tuesday morning, Laura Müller herself followed up with an Instagram post and wrote: “I shot my first clip.”
Both use the revealing image for advertising. They refer to the erotic platform Onlyfans, where there should be “exclusive material”. However, searchers won’t find a nude video or even soft porn there – just another advertisement and it’s already four days old. On April 5th, Laura Müller wrote on her Onlyfans channel: “Dear fans, I have dared and on Thursday, April 18th, 2024 I will present my first video here.” There are also three flame emojis, but you won’t find any further details.
