As the struggle against the state intensifies, a state of emergency has been declared in the country. In this context, it has been reported that President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has asked Mahinda Rajapaksa to resign from the post of Prime Minister immediately at a special cabinet meeting held to discuss the current situation in the country.
It is said that Mahinda Rajapaksa replied that he would announce his decision on the matter next Monday. Meanwhile, his office has denied reports that Mahinda Rajapakse has stepped down as prime minister.
