This academic year, 50,000 students applied for the Plus 2 public exam but did not appear for it. Education Minister Mahesh held a discussion with the authorities on this issue two weeks ago. If Plus 1 public examination continues, the dropout rate for Plus 2 is expected to increase.
Today, the school education department will hold a consultation with district primary education officers to debate whether to continue or stop Plus 1 public examination for the coming academic year. A meeting will be held for two days in Anna Centenary Campus in Chennai, where Principal Education Officers will share their opinions on the district-wise public examination, plans for the upcoming academic year, and tenth standard public examination arrangements. The next steps will be finalized based on their feedback.

CHENNAI: The school education authorities are holding a consultation with the Principal Education Officers today regarding the need for the Plus 1 public examination in the coming academic year. The public examination has come into effect for the Plus 1 students in the Tamil syllabus in 2017-18. After that, there has been an increase in the number of students who did not pass the Plus 1 general examination, did not study Plus 2, and dropped out of school midway.

In the current academic year, 50,000 students who applied for the Plus 2 public examination, did not appear for the Plus 2 examination and became ‘absent’. In this regard, School Education Minister Mahesh held a consultation with the authorities two weeks ago.

In this, it was informed that if the Plus 1 public examination continues, the dropout rate in Plus 2 is likely to increase.

In this case, the officials of the school education department are going to hold a consultation today with the district primary education officers whether to continue or stop the Plus 1 public examination system in the coming academic year.

A consultation meeting will be held today and tomorrow at the conference hall in the Anna Centenary Campus in Chennai.

In this, the Principal Education Officers are going to share their views on district-wise public examination activities, plans for the coming academic year, tenth standard public examination arrangements. According to their comments, the next step is to be finalised.
