Arte is broadcasting the first episodes of the “Profession Reporter” series this Thursday, February 2, 2023. What is it about? Did on-screen journalists really exist? We will explain everything to you.

Wondering how a TV news program works? “Profession: reporter” is made for you. This series is broadcast from Thursday February 2, 2023, at 8:55 p.m., on Arte. This one looks back on the improbable alliance of a novice but ambitious reporter and a TV presenter in need of recognition from an Australian newscast in the 1980s. In the cast, fans of “The Last of Us” and ” Mindhunter” will recognize Anna Torv in the main role, accompanied by Sam Reid, Robert Taylor or William McInnes. The series is already available for streaming on arte.tv.

Between “The Morning Show” and “The Newsroom”, “Profession: Reporter” takes viewers behind the scenes of an Australian television news. But if several historical events described in the series happened well, whether it’s the explosion of the shuttle Challenger, the Chernobyl disaster or the AIDS crisis, the protagonists are completely fictitious. Helen Norville, Dale Jennings or even Geoff Walters do not exist or are not inspired by journalists who really existed.
