Translation exclusiveHealth officials have opened an investigation into whether Pfizer’s updated Covid booster increases the risk of strokes in people over 65.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said their monitoring system indicated a link between the new shot and an increased risk of stroke three to four weeks after vaccination.
Officials explained that other systems that were put in place to track vaccine infections did not find a similar link, which makes them believe that it is not a real cause for concern.
Other data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services, the Department of Veterans Affairs and other sources did not show the same risk of stroke, leading officials to believe it was a statistical exception.
