Is there a threat of a lockdown for unvaccinated people in Upper Austria? The situation is coming to a head

by time news

How to proceed will be decided at 4.30 p.m. Stelzer, Minister of Health Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) and Governor of Salzburg, Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) meet via video for a “coordination meeting” as it is called from Upper Austria. Mückstein unofficially wants a regional lockdown, but the country leaders do not. From the Stelzer office it is said that the measures recently taken must first take effect before they are tightened further.

Critical limit

The fact is: If the numbers continue to rise so rapidly, the achievement of system-critical utilization in intensive care medicine (ICU) is getting closer. The Covid-19 forecast consortium warns of this in its capacity forecast created on Wednesday. “It is possible to exceed the 33 percent occupancy limit in all federal states on November 24th,” emphasize the experts.

According to the forecast consortium, the probability that the system-critical utilization in the intensive care units in Upper Austria will be exceeded in two weeks is 95 percent.

In a coverage forecast, the consortium assumes that in two weeks, in the worst case, more than 900 Covid patients could be in intensive care units. The calculated mean is 748 intensive care patients. Most – namely up to 200 – are expected in Upper Austria.
