Tama Mirza shared a picture on her Facebook. In the picture, all four legs of an elephant are chained. A man is proud to beat the elephant with a stick.
In the caption of this photo, Tama Mirza writes, ‘An elephant is being shackled and beaten with ropes in broad daylight. And everyone is seeing how brutal and shocking it is. Why do we forget the difference between humans and monsters? Is there no justice for this inhuman torture of dumb animals?’
In Tama Mirza’s post, many condemned the killing of animals and demanded that the killers be brought under the law.
Note that elephants live in vast forest areas of Jhargram, Paschim Medinipur and Bankura in India. But living in the forest is now a huge challenge for these elephants. Because of the food in the forest and the rush of people coming to the locality. This month, a pregnant elephant died after being impaled by a burning shell.
It is known that the mother elephant was killed by some members of the local hula party. A hula is a large torch mounted on an iron rod, which is basically made by dipping chaat sacks in kerosene. With the help of this hula, some forest department workers or hula parties work to drive elephants from one village to another.
