The world’s largest streaming service announced yesterday (Sunday) a new series that is expected to air later this year, although it did not specify when exactly.

This series is Tekken: Bloodline, based on the veteran and popular Tekan game series by the Japanese game giant Bandai Nemko, which started in 1994 with game machines (arcade) and continued to PlayStation and Xbox consoles, selling 53.5 million copies as of last November.

“According to the trailer unveiled by the company, the series will tell the story of Jin Kazama, the game star, who embarks on a quest for revenge after his mother’s death and reaches out to his grandfather, the game’s main villain, Hihachi Mishima, to help him improve his mother’s fighting skills and avenge her death.” The King of Iron Boxing (after which the game is called “Tech” – Iron Boxing in Japanese).

Tech is not the first popular gaming brand Netflix addresses in an attempt to attract an audience to a world already familiar to it in a new medium: in recent years the company has released series based on the games “DotA 2” (acronym for Defense of the Ancients) and “Castlevania”, an interactive series based on Microsoft Minecraft and more. The two most notable attempts in the field are “Arkain”, which is based on the game League of Legends and starred for several weeks in the list of series watched on the service, with its theme song, performed by the American Dragon Dragon, starring in Spotify and radio stations in Israel, and “The Wizard”. The first game-based but filmed film series, starring Henry Cabil, is the most-watched English-speaking series in Netflix history (after the Korean “Squid Game” and the Spanish “Paper House”).
