Isaac Nader missed out on competing in the final of the 1500m at the Paris Olympic Games. Running in the first of the semi-finals on another day of Olympic athletics at the Stade de France, the Portuguese athlete finished eighth, with only the top six from each heat advancing and no time trials for a reprieve.
After spending a good part of the race in the middle of the pack, Nader reached the final bend before the finish line in a qualifying position, but was ultimately overtaken by several athletes and began to slow down before crossing the finish line, with a time of 3m34.75s.
This first semi-final was dominated, as expected, by Jakob Ingebrigtsen. The Norwegian stayed at the front throughout and didn’t need to push too hard to be the first to cross the finish line, clocking in at 3m32.28s, closely followed by one of his main rivals, the British athlete Josh Kerr.
The final of the 1500m will take place next Tuesday.
