The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, had to undergo surgery this Tuesday after losing the baby she was expecting at 8 weeks of gestation. This is the reason why she could not attend the annual act of homage and remembrance to Miguel Ángel Blanco held in Madrid.

Ayuso is expected to resume his agent this Thursday, July 23, attending the Plenary of the Madrid Assembly. Days before this news was released, Isabel Díaz Ayuso had attended the Eucharist with which the episcopal ministry of Monsignor José Cobo began, as Archbishop of Madrid in the Cathedral of Santa María la Real de la Almudena in Madrid.

Díaz Ayuso was re-elected as president of Madrid in the regional and municipal elections of 28M after sweeping the Spanish capital and obtaining an absolute majority, which will allow her to govern alone for the next four years.

The Popular Party obtained 71 seats in the Madrid Assembly -three above the 68 that marks the absolute majority- and 47.3% of the votes.

Shows of affection after Ayuso’s operation

The news that Isabel Díaz Ayuso has undergone surgery after losing her eight-week-old baby has not gone unnoticed among political leaders, who have wanted to show their support for the president of the Community of Madrid.

Yolanda Díaz has sent, through her Twitter account, a message of encouragement and affection addressed to the ‘popular’ Ayuso. “All my love and a huge hug in these delicate moments,” she tweeted.

The spokesperson for Más Madrid, Mónica García, also sent her a hug: “A hug and much encouragement in these painful and complicated days.”
