Venezuelan model and businesswoman Isabella Ladera has filed a lawsuit in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court on Sept. 15 against her former boyfriend, Colombian singer Brandon De Jesus Lopez Orozco, known as Beéle. The legal action stems from the public leak of a private intimate video shared between the couple, leading Ladera to allege invasion of privacy, sexual cyberharassment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence.

“No one should take advantage of another’s vulnerability to make money or create content,” Ladera stated in a press release issued Thursday. “This is not entertainment; it is a crime, and the only thing it leaves behind are scars.”

The September lawsuit highlights existing protections for image-based sexual abuse victims, but legal gaps remain between states like Florida and California.

The relationship between Ladera and Beéle began in December 2023 after connecting on Instagram. According to court documents, at Beéle’s request, the couple recorded intimate videos. Ladera deleted her copies and urged Beéle to do the same as early as may 2024,but he allegedly refused. After thier breakup, Ladera began hearing in June 2025 that screenshots from their videos were circulating.

The leak was confirmed Sept. 7, when a video went viral on WhatsApp and was subsequently uploaded to social media platforms like X.The public exposure led to humiliation, reputational damage, and harassment for Ladera, her suit claims.

Evolving Legal landscape

Celebrity sex tape scandals have a long history in the public consciousness. The 1995 surfacing of Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson’s honeymoon video marked a significant moment, highlighting the exploitable nature of private content.Later, the 2014 “Celebgate” incident, where hackers leaked intimate content from numerous celebrities, underscored widespread online vulnerability.

These events spurred legislative action, leading to stronger protections and a shift from the term “revenge porn” to the more encompassing “image-based sexual abuse” (IBSA). In May, President Trump signed the “Take It Down Act” into law, making the knowing publication or threat of publication of intimate images without consent a federal crime. This includes AI-generated “deepfakes.” Websites and social media companies are mandated to remove such material within 48 hours of a victim’s request.

State-by-State Protections

Florida law offers specific protections for victims of nonconsensual sharing of sexually explicit material under Florida Statute §784.049, which criminalizes such distribution. Victims can pursue criminal charges and file civil claims for invas

Lead attorney Pierre Hachar, Jr. stated,”Let it be absolutely clear, that any past, present,or future acts of this nature, weather by these defendants or others, will be met with the same unwavering resolve and addressed to the fullest extent of the law.” The lawsuit aims to secure justice for Ladera and send a strong message about the consequences of unauthorized intimate content dissemination.
