Isis attack in Israel, two policemen killed

Time.news – At least two police officers died and several people were injured in an attack carried out by men linked to the Islamic State organization in the city of Hadera, in Northern Israel. The attack coincides with a historic summit that brings together today and tomorrow the heads of diplomacy of the United States, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco in a location in the Negev desert.

Dudu Boani, a senior police officer in the area, said the attackers were eliminated by special forces and that they were two Israeli Arabs identified by intelligence as local Isis agents.

Video footage from surveillance cameras in Hadera, a city located between Tel Aviv and Haifa, shows two men opening fire with automatic weapons in a car-driven street before heading to the sidewalk. “Two members of the border police counter-terrorism units who were in a restaurant near the scene of the attack went out and neutralized the attackers,” an Israeli security source later told France Presse.

In separate statements, the Palestinian armed Islamist movements of Hamas and Islamic Jihad hailed the “heroic operation of Hadera” without claiming its authorship. Hamas said the attack was “carried out in response to the normalization summit on our land”.
