Mumbai City FC beat Chennai FC in the eighth edition of the Indian Super League. Mumbai won their fifth match of the season by a single goal. Rahul Becky scored the winning goal in the 86th minute. With the win, Mumbai managed to retain the number one position in the points table.
Mumbai managed to establish a clear dominance over Chennai throughout the match. About 70 per cent of the ball was for Mumbai. While the Mumbai Indians fired 15 shots, Chennai managed just seven. But despite creating good chances in the first half, Mumbai could not find the back of the net.
Rahul Becky came to the rescue at a time when the match seemed to be heading for a draw. Rahul did not miss a single on a free kick taken by Jahu. The ball reached the net. Even then, Mumbai’s performance did not give Chennai any loopholes. Chennai are fifth in the table after conceding their first defeat of the season.
