The terrorist attack in the US city of New Orleans on the first day of the year has caused security experts to express concern that the Islamist terrorist group Islamic State (IV), despite the loss of control over the large territories it once occupied in the Middle East and the destruction of its centralized leadership structure, is still able to carry out terrorist attacks in the world, infecting individuals in democratic Western countries with its ideology of hatred.
Moreover, each such attack by an individual who has declared his allegiance to IV motivates future adherents of this extremist ideology to try to do something similar themselves. US non-profit consulting firm SITE Intelligence Groupwhich studies the activities of extremists on online communication sites, found that adherents of IV ideology have already expressed their joy in online communication groups about the attack in New Orleans, writing about the attacker: “If he is a brother, he is legendary. Allah is almighty!”
