Along with this, the National Supply Center (Cenabast), importer of the contraceptive, was instructed to immediately withdraw it from the market to destroy the reported batch.

The Institute of Public Health of Chile (ISP) reported the immediate withdrawal from the market of the Contraceptive Zinnia P Coated Tablets, serie 8153477 (Levonorgestrel 150 mcg y Etinilestradiol 30 mcg), del laboratorio Mylan Laboratories Limited.

The ISP explained that the contraceptive presented quality problems in a blister, since tablets with a color similar to the placebo were displayed and they were located in the place of the tablets with the active ingredient (white), which could present a potential treatment failure in contraception.

Given this, the organization called to “verify that your blister does not have this defect. If you have it, do not stop treatment without first consulting your midwife or doctor.”

Along with this, the National Supply Central (Cenabast), importer of the contraceptive, was instructed its immediate withdrawal from the market to destroy the reported batch.

The ISP specified that this contraceptive has exceptional authorization, given that it is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and was acquired through the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in charge of sexual and reproductive health.
