Tel Aviv: Israel has attacked Lebanon after Hezbollah expressed apprehension of an attack. According to Lebanese media reports, 40 attacks have taken place in southern Lebanon. The attack was carried out when Israeli Defense Forces spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari had said that Hezbollah was preparing to attack Israel. After this, Israel carried out air strikes in Lebanon early Sunday morning targeting the bases of Shia militia Hezbollah. The Israeli army gave this information. The Israeli army issued a statement accusing Hezbollah of ‘preparing to fire missiles and rockets towards Israeli territory’. Hezbollah has also retaliated. Israeli Army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said, ‘To avoid these threats, in self-defense (by the Israeli army), those terrorist bases in Lebanon are being attacked, from where Hezbollah was plotting to attack the common citizens of Israel.’ Hagari warned that Hezbollah would ‘soon fire rockets and possibly missiles’ and drones in Israel. Soon after, sirens started sounding in northern Israel.
The route of the planes was changed
Lebanese media reported attacks in the southern part of the country, but did not give details. Some videos available on social media showed attacks in southern Lebanon. Flights arriving at Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport outside Tel Aviv were diverted and other flights were delayed on Sunday after Israeli air strikes in Lebanon. Israeli media reported this quoting the Israel Airports Authority. Flight tracking data, which monitors flight movements, showed that at least two flights of ‘EL AI’ turned towards south and changed their route after this announcement.
Israel had earlier given warning
Hagar said in his statement, ‘We can see that Hezbollah is preparing to launch a large-scale attack on Israel, endangering Lebanese citizens.’ Hagar did not give any further details about this intelligence. He said, ‘We alert the citizens living in the areas where Hezbollah is active to leave from there immediately for their safety.’ After the death of a top Hezbollah commander in an Israeli attack and the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniya in a suspected Israeli attack in Iran, the fear has increased that the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip could turn into a regional conflict.
