Overwhelmed by a series of internal problems in Colombia and using the same discourse customary among the radical left of the region about alleged coup plans against him, Gustavo Petro has tried to divert attention and announced the breaking of diplomatic relations with Israel.

In an event held in Bogotá on May 1, the Colombian president announced that “here before you, the Government of change, the President of the Republic informs that tomorrow diplomatic relations with the State of Israel will be broken (.. .) for having a Government, for having a genocidal president.”

As if that were not enough, the Colombian already received the gratitude of the Hamas terrorists for this announcement: “We deeply appreciate the position of the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, who has announced the breaking of diplomatic relations with the occupation, and we consider this position an victory for the sacrifices of our people and their just cause.

Shortly after Petro’s announcement, Israel Katz, Israel’s Foreign Minister, addressed Petro, whom he described as a “hateful anti-Semite,” through the social network X: “The president of Colombia promised to reward the murderers and rapists from Hamas and today he kept his promise. History will remember that Gustavo Petro decided to side with the most despicable monsters known to humanity who burned babies, murdered children, raped women and kidnapped innocent civilians.”

It is not the first time that Petro has spoken about this possible breakup since he also did so in October, although apparently he waited for the best moment to use it politically.
