JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israel has suspended production at the Tamar gas field on the south coast and will seek alternative fuel sources to meet its needs, the Energy Ministry said on Monday, after three days of violence in the region.

Chevron, which operates the field, confirmed it was instructed by the ministry to close the field, which is an important source of gas for Israel’s power generators and industry.
