A few days ago, the Israeli army launched a large-scale operation in the northern West Bank, which is expected to last several days. The operation is focused on the Tulkarm area, Jenin, and the Far’a camp near Tubas, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of Palestinians.

Five Palestinians were killed at dawn on Thursday in an “exchange of fire with Israeli army forces in the Nur Shams camp in Tulkarm district in the West Bank.”

The Israeli army spokesman announced, “The assassination of the commander of the Tulkarm Battalion, Muhammad Jaber, nicknamed “Abu Shujaa,” and 4 other members of the battalion.”

Israel continues to kill Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza… and Sweden refuses to receive the wounded!

Yesterday, at least 10 Palestinians were killed in the West Bank in Israeli drone strikes. Israeli forces blocked roads to Ibn Sina Hospital with earth mounds, surrounded Martyr Khalil Suleiman Hospital, and the headquarters of the Red Crescent and Friends of the Patient societies.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health warned of “the repercussions of the Israeli forces’ siege of the hospitals of Jenin and Tulkarm in the West Bank and their threats to storm them.”

The ministry said in a statement that “dozens of patients are currently being treated in Jenin’s governmental, private and civil hospitals, and that any storming of them is a direct threat to their lives and the lives of medical staff.”

The ministry directed “all medical teams in Jenin Governorate to head to the nearest health center to support their fellow doctors in dealing with the emergency situation in the governorate, especially after the Israeli forces bulldozed the roads surrounding the hospitals in the city, and raised the level of readiness.”

She called on the international community and the Red Cross to “intervene to protect medical institutions, at a time when the occupation forces are obstructing ambulances from reaching them, which puts the lives of patients and the injured at risk, which constitutes a flagrant violation of human rights, international humanitarian law and international human rights law.”

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to Ramallah yesterday, Wednesday, “to follow up on the latest developments and events in light of the Israeli war on the northern West Bank.”

The West Bank has witnessed an escalation in violence, especially since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, where more than 650 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces.

In Gaza, Nine Palestinians, most of them children and women, were killed and others were injured at dawn today in various parts of the Gaza Strip, which is witnessing violent air, land and sea bombardment by Israeli army forces for the 328th day.

In addition, the Swedish government rejected the European Commission’s request to receive patients and wounded from the Gaza Strip.

Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm said it had the capacity to receive patients from Gaza, and Aleris said it had vacant places that could be used immediately.

“We have the capacity to take in additional patients from Gaza, but the costs of taking in a small number of patients are very high, and Sweden would rather use its resources to provide aid that reaches more people,” said Connie Mathiesen, business manager and specialist nurse at Aleris.

Israel has been continuing its war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in the killing of 40,534 Palestinians and the injury of 93,778 others, in an incomplete toll.
