For the first time since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army considered the Gaza Strip to be a “secondary battlefield,” in conjunction with violent bombing targeting Lebanon.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported, “Most of the attention and resources of the Israeli army are currently directed to Lebanon.”
She explained, “Last week, the Israeli army turned Gaza into a secondary battlefield with the beginning of the ground operation in southern Lebanon.”
And to Lebanon, Israel’s representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, confirmed that “Tel Aviv does not intend to occupy southern Lebanon.” Adding: “Israel does not want to be present in southern Lebanon.”
In addition, the Israeli army announced the assassination of a commander in the anti-armor missile unit of the Radwan Force in the Mays al-Jabal area, and the destruction of Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.
The Israeli army said in a statement: “Air Force warplanes attacked and eliminated a commander in the anti-armor missile unit of the Radwan Force in the Mays al-Jabal area, called Gharib al-Shuja’, who was responsible for several plans to launch anti-armor missiles towards the Ramat Naftali area.”
In context, A foreign worker was killed and an Israeli citizen was seriously injured as a result of an anti-tank missile fired at northern Israel.
On Friday morning, Israeli Channel 14 reported, “A 27-year-old foreign citizen was killed and another Israeli citizen was seriously injured, as a result of an anti-tank missile landing on the Yaroun area in the Upper Galilee, northern Israel.”
The channel confirmed on its website, “Damage occurred as a result of the direct hit on the Israeli industrial zone in the Kiryat Bialik settlement.”
Since last September 23, Israel has expanded the scope of the war it is waging against Lebanon to include most of its regions, including the capital, Beirut, through unprecedented air strikes. It has also begun a ground incursion into its south, despite international and international warnings. The current Israeli escalation against Lebanon has resulted in the killing of about 1,300 people and the injury of thousands. More than one million and 200 thousand displaced people, according to official Lebanese data.
For more than a year, Israel has continued its war on the Gaza Strip, which has so far resulted in the killing of more than 42,000 Palestinians and the injury of about 100,000 others, in addition to massive destruction of buildings and infrastructure in the Strip.
