Israeli forces entered the city of Al-Baath in the Quneitra Governorate in the occupied Syrian Golan.

Al-Arabiya channel reported, “Israeli forces penetrated several towns in Quneitra Governorate, arrested two people and destroyed roads in the city, indicating that they carried out raid campaigns.”

Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath sources confirmed, “The Israeli forces gave the residents of the city of Al-Baath in Quneitra, southern Syria, two hours to hand over the weapons they possess, threatening to storm the city.”

The Israeli government had approved “a plan to expand Israeli settlements in the Golan Heights, saying that it acted “in light of the war and the new front with Syria,” and a desire to double the number of Israeli residents there.”

Since the fall of the regime of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, “Israeli forces have penetrated into the Golan Heights, which occupied most of it in 1967, before annexing it in 1981. They also entered the buffer zone, overthrowing the disengagement agreement concluded in 1974 between the Syrian and Israeli sides.”

It is noteworthy that “the disengagement agreement that ceased the fire between Syria and Israel, after the October War of 1973, on May 31, 1974, was signed in the city of Geneva in Switzerland, in order to separate the Syrian and Israeli forces in the area adjacent to the occupied Golan on the border between the two countries, and stipulated: Establishing a buffer zone between the two parties on both sides of the border. This buffer zone extended along the border (75 kilometers), from Mount Hermon to the Jordanian border, and was called a no man’s land, meaning that soldiers are prohibited from entering it from both sides, while the United Nations force “UNDOF” assumed the task of monitoring the disengagement agreement.

The former Vice President of the Syrian regime publishes a statement about recent events

In this context, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, former Vice President of the Syrian regime, “Bashar Al-Assad,” said in a statement published by the Syrian newspaper “Al-Watan”: “Over the past two weeks, Syria has witnessed events and developments that aroused the interest of the peoples of the region and the world, and many expected that these transformations would be accompanied by a lot of blood.” And destruction; However, we saw that the Syrian people, especially the young groups who led this movement, were well aware that violence does not build nations and does not instill hope for a promising future.”

She added: “Hence, we emphasize the inevitability of preserving the unity, independence and sovereignty of the land and people of Syria, through the solidarity of all its people, regardless of their diverse affiliations and cultures, and that Syria cannot build its present and future except by preserving its civilizational and humanitarian role in the region and the world.”

Al-Miqdad said: “We hope that all the efforts made now by the Syrian youth, including the proposed National Dialogue Conference, will achieve something that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people, and highlight the civilized face of their country by agreeing to consciously draw the basic lines that will lead us all to the desired future.” .
