Madagascar is one of 120 member countries of the United Nations (UN) having voted for an immediate humanitarian truce on the 21st day of the war between Israel and Hamas.

This non-binding resolution calls for an “immediate, lasting and sustained humanitarian truce, leading to the cessation of hostilities. The vote garnered 120 votes in favor at the UN General Assembly in New York, 14 against, including Israel and the States -United and 45 abstentions out of the 193 members of the UN.

This resolution, voted by a large majority, aims in particular to protect civilians and ensure compliance with legal and humanitarian obligations. The United Nations Assembly also expressed concern about the serious consequences of armed conflicts on vulnerable populations, including women, children, people with disabilities and the elderly.
