Israel, which was hit by rockets from Lebanon, “hopes to ease tensions” but said it would “retaliate against its enemies.”

According to Reuters on the 6th (local time), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at an emergency security-related ministerial meeting, “Israel is not interested in changing the rules in the Holy Land and wants to ease tensions.” They will pay for all acts of aggression.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu went on to refer to the internal divisions in Israel over the judicial reform bill, saying, “Our internal debates do not prevent us from responding to our enemies. We are in solidarity without exception in our response to the enemy,” he said.

The meeting came after dozens of rockets and mortars were fired at Israel from southern Lebanon. Recently, Israel has been in conflict with the Palestinians over the Holy Land in East Jerusalem.

In particular, this month, Ramadan, the Islamic fasting month, and Passover, the Jewish holiday commemorating the Exodus, begin to overlap, and conflicts are escalating. On the 4th, Israeli police entered the al-Aqsa mosque in East Jerusalem and clashed with Palestinians praying. Since then, the Gaza Strip, which is ruled by the militant group Hamas, continued to fire rockets toward southern Israel for three days. Israel also mobilized warplanes on the 5th to retaliate against Gaza.

Israel believes that Hamas is behind the attack from Lebanon. An Israeli military spokesperson tweeted: “It was Hamas who fired the rockets from Lebanon.” The Israeli military said 34 rockets were fired from Lebanon, 25 of which were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.
