The Hebrew newspaper Maariv reported that “Tel Aviv recently informed Cairo that it is ready to withdraw from the Rafah crossing, the “Philadelphi” axis adjacent to the Egyptian border with the Gaza Strip.”
The newspaper explained, “Tel Aviv informed Egypt that a security delegation will arrive in Cairo in the coming hours to discuss several points in the hostage deal agreement with the Egyptian side.”
She stressed that “Israel informed Cairo of its approval of the issues related to the Philadelphi and Rafah axis, according to certain conditions.”
It was reported that “an Egyptian security delegation will head to Doha today, Thursday, to participate in meetings to reach an agreement and a temporary ceasefire for six weeks.”
Hamas had previously informed Egypt that it was waiting for and expecting a complete cessation of military operations inside the Strip in order to continue negotiations. It also demanded the release of about 1,000 prisoners in exchange for keeping a third of the kidnapped alive. It also stipulated the entry of 600 trucks daily for 42 days. Hamas also demanded the start of aid operations, the restoration of infrastructure, and the entry of fuel and gas. The movement demands the reactivation of the Rafah crossing without an Israeli presence.
The death toll of Palestinians killed as a result of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has risen to more than 39,145 dead and 90,257 wounded, most of whom are children and women, while thousands of victims are still under the rubble.
