A multinational military group could be deployed in the Gaza Strip with the participation of soldiers from Arab countries, an idea put forward by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant.

As Day.Az reports, Axios sources reported this.

“Such a move will create a governing body in the region that will not [связан с] Hamas, and will resolve Israel’s growing problem with the US regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza,” a senior Israeli official said.

The Israeli Defense Minister asked the United States for political and material support for the initiative without American participation on the ground. The portal’s source said that we are talking about the Arab military guarding a temporary pier that Washington is building to deliver humanitarian aid to the sector, and escorting humanitarian convoys.

According to an Axios source, the idea was discussed with representatives of three Arab countries, including Egypt. “There is progress in advancing this initiative, both in terms of the Biden administration’s willingness to discuss it and in terms of Arab countries’ openness to the idea,” the Israeli official said.

The portal’s interlocutor from the American administration confirmed that the main country considering the idea is Egypt. But he indicated that the introduction of troops into the Gaza Strip would require an invitation from the Palestinian Authority and assessed the chances of its implementation in the near future as small due to disagreements between Palestine and Israel.

However, an Axios source from one of the Arab countries said that Israel had misunderstood the side’s position because it was not ready to send troops to guard humanitarian convoys, but could consider participating in peacekeeping missions after the war.
