Beirut: Israel has killed another of its biggest enemies in Lebanon. The name of the killed commander is being reported as Khalil al-Maqdah. He was the commander of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard. At the time of the attack, Khalil al-Maqdah was travelling in a car in Sidon, southern Lebanon. During this time, a guided missile hit his car and exploded. A newspaper named Al-Mayadeen associated with Hezbollah active in Lebanon has also confirmed the killing of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade commander Khalil al-Maqdah.

How big was the killing of Al-Maqdah?

Al-Mayadeen reported that al-Maqdah was reportedly a brigadier general in the military wing of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, a Palestinian group based in the West Bank with close ties to Fatah. After al-Maqdah’s killing, his brother Munir al-Maqdah said they were “on the path to victory or martyrdom. Such killings make us stronger.” Munir al-Maqdah is also the commander of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades. He said, “Martyrdom is a symbol of honor, and the resistance is still firm on the ground.” Al-Mayadeen’s correspondent in south Lebanon said Khalil al-Maqdah had a “leading role in attacks against Israel.”

Al-Maqdah was an operative of Iran

According to Israeli media, al-Maqdah was an operative of the Quds Force in the IRGC. He was accused of plotting against Israel and being involved in several attacks. The Israeli army was looking for him for many years. He lived in hiding in Lebanon and operated from there. Khalil al-Maqdah also used to travel to Iran. He also served as a link between Fatah’s military wing active in the West Bank and the Iranian army.
