IDF: “Hamas Command and Control Center in Humanitarian Zone Hit”
Hamas denies: “Israeli claims are blatant lies”

Israel announced on the 10th (local time) that it had struck a Hamas command and control center conducting covert operations in the southern humanitarian zone of the Gaza Strip, the Times of Israel reported.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a Telegram post on the same day that they had “attacked terrorists operating inside the command and control center located deep inside the Khan Yunis humanitarian zone.”

The IDF claimed that “these terrorists were planning attacks against IDF forces and Israeli civilians.”

The IDF explained that it had taken several measures prior to the airstrikes, using intelligence and other means to minimize the possibility of terrorists harming civilians.

Israel aims to completely dismantle the Palestinian armed group Hamas, and is focusing its military power on eliminating Hamas leaders, including Yahya Sinwar.

Israel has been criticized by the international community for its continued attacks on refugee camps in the Gaza Strip, claiming they are targeting Hamas.

Citing a Gaza Civil Defense official, AFP reported that at least 40 people were killed and 60 wounded in an Israeli airstrike on the al-Mawasi refugee camp in Khan Yunis that day.

Gaza Civil Defense officials said there was a possibility that more casualties would be found in the rubble of the collapsed building.

A Civil Defense spokesman said the casualty figures were based on people found near the scene of the airstrike and taken to hospital. He said a family was trapped under the rubble, but a lack of equipment was making it difficult to find them.

IDF airstrikes reportedly left a huge hole inside the refugee camp.

Hamas has denied Israel’s claims, saying it has never had a command and control center inside the humanitarian zone.

“The occupying forces’ claims about the resistance fighters are blatant lies,” they said in a statement.

Hamas has repeatedly stated that it has never operated operational headquarters in civilian facilities such as hospitals or schools or in refugee camps.
