Tel Aviv: A war-like situation has arisen between Israel and Hezbollah. The Israeli army has carried out the biggest attack on Lebanon since 2006. 274 people have been confirmed dead in this attack, while more than 1000 people are injured. Women, children and doctors are also among the dead. Lebanon has described this as an attack to impose war. At the same time, Arab countries have strongly condemned this attack. Two days before this, Hezbollah fired more than 100 rockets on northern Israel. Regular firing has been taking place between Israel and Hezbollah since October 7 last year. Israel had already killed hundreds of Hezbollah fighters by exploding Hezbollah’s pagers and walkie-talkies.
Israel’s big attack on Hezbollah
The Israel Defense Forces IDF has said that it attacked more than 300 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon on Monday. Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Galant has said that the attacks will continue until we achieve our goal of bringing thousands of displaced Israelis back to the north. People in southern Lebanon have received text messages asking them to leave the area. Earlier, Hezbollah had claimed revenge for the massive explosions of pagers and walkie-talkies by attacking Israel with rockets.
Israel is continuously bombing Lebanon
Israel then responded to Hezbollah’s attacks by carrying out airstrikes in the Lebanese capital Beirut. In these attacks, a high-rise building collapsed in the southern suburbs of Beirut, known as Dahiyah, a Shia-dominated area. Hezbollah has a strong presence in this area. At least 45 people were killed in these attacks, including Ibrahim Aqeel, one of Hezbollah’s top leaders, several other fighters, women and children. Aqeel, 61, was the second top commander of Hezbollah to be killed in an Israeli airstrike in the southern suburb of Beirut, which has dealt a severe blow to the command structure of this terrorist group. He was a member of Hezbollah’s highest military body, the Jihad Council, since 2008 and was the chief of the elite Radwan Forces.
Israeli army took oath
IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi vowed, “We will send our countrymen back to their homes safely, and if they (Hezbollah) have not understood this yet, they will suffer another blow and until this group understands, it will continue to suffer one blow after another.” Hezbollah also fired rockets at Ramat David Air Base near the Israeli city of Haifa. Hezbollah’s deputy leader Naim Qassem said the rocket attack was just the beginning of what is now an “open battle” with Israel. “We admit we are grieving. We are human beings. But just as we are grieving – you will be grieving too,” Qassem said at the funeral of Hezbollah’s top commander Ibrahim Aqeel. “We are prepared to face all military possibilities,” he said, according to the Washington Post.
Israel will accept the destruction of Hezbollah
IDF Chief Halevi said, “The attack on Hezbollah’s command is a clear message to the organization and the entire Middle East – we know how to reach anyone who threatens Israeli citizens.” On Sunday, Israel also raided Al Jazeera’s Ramallah office in the occupied West Bank. Staff were ordered to leave and the office was ordered to close for 45 days. Footage showed an Israeli soldier informing West Bank bureau chief Walid al-Omari about a court decision to “close Al Jazeera for 45 days”. “I ask you to take all cameras and leave the office at this time,” the soldier said. Al Jazeera said it “strongly condemns this criminal act” and called the raid “not only an attack on Al Jazeera but an affront to the principles of press freedom and journalism”.
