There was another bloody attack in Israel.

On the evening of Israel’s Independence Day, three people were killed in the city of Elad (east of Tel Aviv), the Israeli embassy in Germany confirmed on Thursday evening.

► The director of the Israeli rescue service Magen David Adom (MDA), Eli Bin, said on Twitter that there are currently “six injured people in serious condition”. There are several MDA teams “on site and treating the injured”.

A police spokesman said two perpetrators were believed to have been involved in the attack in the strictly religious town of Elad, east of Tel Aviv. One of them shot, another attacked passers-by with an axe.

According to the Times of Israel, two men attacked passers-by in a park in the city. Due to the Independence Day celebrations, many people had gathered in the streets of the city.

Police said they suspect the attack was a militant attack and that the attacker fled in a vehicle. Roadblocks have been set up in the area. A police helicopter follows a suspicious vehicle.

According to media reports, the police are concerned that the perpetrators may have escaped to the nearby West Bank. The ruling Hamas in the Gaza Strip praised the bloody attack over loudspeakers as a “heroic act”.

A wave of terror in Israel has killed 14 people since the end of March. In recent weeks there have been repeated attacks by Palestinians and Arab Israelis. Israel celebrated its 74th Independence Day on Thursday.

The attacks must “finally come to an end,” said Uwe Becker, President of the German-Israeli Society, to BILD shortly after the attack in Elad. “Solidarity from Germany and the EU is needed now. Pressure must be exerted on the Palestinian side to put an end to this terror. Financial support for the Palestinians should be tied to a clear commitment to counter-terrorism.”
