Israel warns residents of 73 towns against returning to southern Lebanon

On Monday, the Israeli army issued a warning to residents of 73 Lebanese towns along the Blue Line, warning them that returning to their homes would expose them to danger.

The Israeli army statement said: “A new reminder to the residents of southern Lebanon that until further notice you are prohibited from moving south to the village line and its surroundings. The IDF does not intend to target you, and therefore you are prohibited at this stage from returning to your homes from this line to the south until further notice. “Anyone who moves south of this line puts himself in danger.”

He continued, saying: “Please do not return to the following villages: Al-Dhahira, Al-Taybeh, Al-Tiri, Al-Naqoura, Abu Shash, Ibl Al-Saqi, Al-Bayada, Al-Jabain, Al-Khuraybah, Al-Khiyam, Khirbet, Matmura, Al-Mari, Al-Adisa, Al-Qulaya, Umm Tuta, Salib, Arnoun, Bint Jbeil, Beit Lev, Blida, Beni Hayyan, Al-Bustan, Ain Arab, Marjayoun, Dibbin, Debaal, Deir Mimas, Deir Suryan, Hula, Halta, Hanin, Tayr, Harfah Yahmru, Yaroun, Yarin, Kfar Hamam, Kfar Kila, Kfar Shuba, Al-Zaloutiyah, Muhaibib, Mays Al-Jabal, Maysat, Marjayoun, Marwahin, Maroun Al-Ras, Markaba, Adshit Al-Qusayr, Ain Apple, Ainata, Aita al-Shaab, Aitaroun, Alma al-Shaab, Arab al-Luwaiza, al-Qawzah, Rab Thilatin, Ramiyah, Rmeish, Rashaya Al-Fakhar, Shebaa, Shehin, Shama, Talusah.”

Israel begins its withdrawal from Naqoura, Lebanon
In a related context, US envoy Amos Hockstein confirmed on Monday that Israel had begun withdrawing from the town of Naqoura, in southern Lebanon.

Hockstein, who is on a visit to Lebanon, said, “The Israeli army has actually begun to return inside Israel south of the Blue Line.”

He also indicated that Israeli withdrawals from southern Lebanon will continue until all its forces leave, in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army up to the Blue Line.

Hockstein arrived in Lebanon, on Monday, on a visit aimed at holding a meeting with the monitoring committee for the ceasefire in the south and limited meetings with the Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri, the Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, and some politicians.

Earlier Monday, the Lebanese Army confirmed that its units were stationed around the town of Naqoura – Tyre, and began deploying there in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The Lebanese Army indicated that the deployment will be completed during the next phase, and the specialized units will conduct an engineering survey of the town with the aim of removing unexploded ordnance.

The army leadership called on citizens not to approach the area and to adhere to the instructions of military units until the deployment ends.
